Call for papers: "Rus' and Latin Europe in the Middle Ages: Contacts, Influences, Conflicts. New Studies"
It is common knowledge that throughout all the centuries of its existence Ancient Rus was connected to Western Europe by a multitude of links, from dynastic and political to commercial and cultural. Almost every year, historians either discover new traces of this interaction or clarify what is known about the existing contacts.
The conference organizers, Maria Alexandrova, Mikhail Boytsov, and Mikhail Dmitriev aim at discussing the crucial findings of recent years. It might be possible to touch on interaction problems between the Russian lands and the Latin West.
The Centre for Medieval Studies invites historians, philologists, art historians, archaeologists, architectural historians, museum workers, and archivists, representing any academic institutions in Russia and other countries to participate in the workshop. The languages of the workshop are Russian and English.
Abstracts (up to one page) and a short CV must be submitted to German Baroyan (ggbaroyan@edu.hse.ru) by February 28, 2021.
